Last sunday my friend Chris had a BYOP -bring your own pumpkin- at his house. It was part potluck, part pumpkin carving party. (The food was delicious, by the way) My pumpkin, the one in the lower left, didn't really STEAL THE SHOW, but boy was it fun to carve.
Can't believe Halloween is here this weekend. One last chance to break out the "spelling bee" costume!

A tuesday pick-me-up!
Started off an awesome yoga class with this song tonight.
shake it, shake it, shake it!
shake it, shake it, shake it!
Thursday
FAIL
This post was supposed to read "WOW, I MET PRESIDENT CLINTON". I would have posted a picture of Bill speaking and written a story of how I met him and regaled him with stories of the "clinton" sandwich at Miami University (grilled cheese with a piece of pizza inside).
However, Bill is a tardy person and a girl can only spread her lunch break so far. The speech I went to see at 12:30 became the speech that happened at 2:00 :(

looking for a labyrinth? RiverLink's got one!
We are now featured on the Labyrinth Society's website. Look us up!
Wednesday
map makin'
For the past couple days, Nancy (water resources manager/ landscape architect) and I have been working on this map for the American Trails Conference in Chattanooga, TN. Not gonna lie--i'm a little bit proud.
This map is RiverLink's Wilma Dykeman RiverWay project plan, a 17 mile connection of parks and greenways along the French Broad and Swannanoa Rivers. We've still got a lot of miles to connect!

Our trip to Raleigh
Took a trip to Raleigh, NC for a very pointless conference. But HEY! We got a sweet rental car, free dinner and to stay at a swanky hotel. I'm not complaining!
Sunday
Long way home
Got KIND OF nostalgic while I was in Brevard yesterday for "Tour De Falls" and decided to take the long way home. I drove up hwy 276, past the Cradle of Forestry, and along the Blue Ridge Parkway back to Asheville. I've missed these views.

Tuesday
River Arts District (RAD)
Chris and I went to the old Cotton Mill Property last night to take some photogs. It was a great time and thanks to the RiverLink camera I got some good shots.
Someone has already discovered how awesome this building is. Sketches and a bed.

Monday
Environmental Education at the Nature Center
On Saturday RiverLink tabled at the WNC Nature Center as part of the Hey Day Festival. Despite our next door neighbors, the otters, stealing all the attention, I thought it went pretty well. Educating about macroinvertabrates and being next to the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education table, made for some serious Summer 2010 flashbacks.
Wednesday
ice house property
Tomorrow a group of 200 volunteers from the Outdoor Industry Association are coming to RiverLink and doing an afternoon clean-up. One of the properties they are helping with is the Ice House on Riverside Drive. This morning, I went there and took some "before pictures".
Sunday
I love fall
How great is this? Available from Baconwrapt.com
The weather is getting colder and my neck is feeling bare. It's time to break out the knitting needles again.
